Biography
I am a distinguished professor of Family and Community Medicine, associate dean for Health Services Research and the executive director of the Center for the Advancement of Team Science, Analytics, and Systems Thinking in Health Services and Implementation Science Research (CATALYST). I am also a professor of Biomedical Informatics and Pediatrics in the College of Medicine, and a professor of Health Services Management and Policy in the College of Public Health.
As a member of the Cancer Control Program at the OSUCCC - James, my research focuses on information technology innovations in health care, cancer care improvement, population health management, reducing disparities in care, quality improvement and implementation science. I have more than 30 years of experience conducting health services research and disseminating the results for academic and clinical audiences.
I am a co-principal investigator for the Center to STOP-COVID, a Serological Sciences Center of Excellence, established at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center by a $10 million grant from the National Cancer Institute. I also oversee a T32 training grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality focused on training postdoctoral researchers in health services work.
My current projects include an American Heart Association-funded exploration of interventions to improve maternal and infant outcomes by helping pregnant patients connect with resources to address their social needs. In addition, I am leading research to test the comparative effectiveness of different medications to treat gestational diabetes and preeclampsia in pregnant patients, funded by grants from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
I enjoy collaborative research projects and engaging clinicians in health services research, as well as mentoring junior faculty in their scholarly endeavors. I was honored to receive The Ohio State University's FAME Outstanding Mentor award in recognition of these efforts. I have authored more than 400 articles published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as 11 books and more than 100 book chapters.
