Biography
Dr. Ashley Rosko is a nationally recognized physician-scientist, educator, and clinical leader in hematology and her research centers on cancer and aging. She is a clinical professor in Division of Hematology Department of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University. Dr. Rosko serves as the founding Medical Director of the Oncogeriatrics Program at The James Comprehensive Cancer Center and co-directs the Cancer and Aging Resiliency (CARE) Clinic, a pioneering multidisciplinary model designed to address the complex needs of older adults with cancer. Her excellence in patient care and teaching has been widely recognized, including repeated designation as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, Exceptional Woman in Medicine, and receipt of the Ohio State Compassionate Care Award. Dr. Rosko has established herself as a leading authority in geriatric hematology and continues to shape the future of cancer care for aging populations.
Her research focuses on defining and optimizing “fitness” in patients with hematologic malignancies through clinical and biologic characterization of aging and frailty. Dr. Rosko has led and contributed to numerous investigator-initiated and federally funded studies, including NIH/NCI-supported work, supporting multicenter randomized clinical trials. Her research program has enrolled hundreds of older adults in geriatric-focused studies and includes leadership roles in multiple clinical trials as a principal investigator and co-investigator and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Rosko’s leadership extends across institutional, national, and international arenas. For the State of Ohio, she created and led the Cancer and Aging Workgroup for the Ohio Partners for Cancer Control, Ohio Department of Health, Cancer Plan 2021-2030 and sits on the advisory committee for the State Plan on Aging. She has played key roles in major professional societies, including the American Society of Hematology (ASH), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Cancer and Aging Research Group (CARG) and the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG), contributing to guideline development, quality initiatives, and scientific programming. She serves as a standing member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Older Adult Oncology Guidelines, the International Myeloma Working Group and was selected for a 4- year term as a voting member of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee (FDA ODAC). Dr. Rosko is an editorial board member of the Journal of Geriatric Oncology and the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Oncology Advances.
Dr. Rosko has demonstrated exceptional programmatic leadership, bringing together multidisciplinary teams across colleges, departments, and research centers to advance aging science. Dr. Rosko, and her colleagues, have been instrumental in conceptualizing and developing an institution-wide Institute on Aging, fostering collaboration across medicine, public health, engineering, nursing, and allied sciences to drive innovation and improve care for older adults.
