Biography
My research focuses on the health of older adults, particularly older cancer survivors. My research threads of geriatrics and cancer survivorship interest into the growing field of geriatric oncology. Despite accounting for 67% of cancer survivors, older cancer survivors are vastly understudied, particularly their health outcomes. My work examines the negative health outcomes (e.g., poor health behaviors, functional limitations, symptom burden) experienced by older adults during and after cancer treatment. I prioritize solving these complex problems by 1) identifying predictors of these negative outcomes through primary and secondary data and 2) designing and implementing randomized controlled trials that contribute essential evidence regarding effective interventions. My research is interdisciplinary, and I regularly collaborate with experts in health and medical fields to approach these complicated scientific questions.
